As of 2005 there was 193 vineyards and 63 wineries in Illinois. In 2004 it was estimated that 451,079 gallons of wine were produced while the average production per producing winery was 7,575 gallons. The top 7 grape varieties grown in Northern Illinois (2004) are Foch, Niagara, Frontenac, St. Croix, St. Pepin, Vignoles and LaCrosse in descending order by 2004 harvested grapes.
